Curriculum Project
This curriculum project solely focuses on how we can teach young people on how to use social media in a healthy ethical manner and how social media can impact their mental health.
Overuse of social media can have negative consequences for an adolescence life, as the increase use of media has been documented since the global pandemic.
This project also focuses on how art, craft and design can be used to communicate the above messages effectively among young people in a school environment.
Understanding Schools with University of Limerick
This essay critically examines the efficacy of artistic practice in exploring current systemic issues of gender, sexuality, social class within the educational system.
Despite Ireland's funded education system, these issues still persist.
Referencing different studies, educational documents, survey data and teachers code of conduct, this work brings forth the role of economic, cultural, and social capital with shaping educational experience.
By exploring school policies and hidden systematic rankings, we identify their methods with increasing inequality. This further defines the role of an art teacher. This includes bringing forth inclusivity, pedagogy, question current norms, excel with student diversity and be an agent of deep change.
Short Course (Group Project)
This short course that my group developed takes its focus towards Fast Fashion and how we can show students how to make more informed choices as consumers to empower them to contribute to positive change.
This course fills a gap within the education system where the focus is solely on theoretical knowledge, and it often does not equip students with practical solutions that contribute to real change within the larger society.
This aims to provide practical skills on how to mend, repair, care and upcycle clothing in a sustainable, affordable, and positive way. Students will be introduced to different clothing materials, their qualities, care, and repair methods
